We are excited to add Cisco Brothers sofas, chairs, loveseats, and bedframes to our lineup of sustainable products! Their products are built to last a lifetime, supremely comfortable, and best of all, made from all-natural materials! Here’s a little bit about them.
How it all began
Years ago, a man named Cisco grew up in a small village in Mexico. The people there shared resources and lived making the most of what they had. "I think that’s where I get my love of sustainability. Even though the village was small, there was a real sense of community where everyone worked together to make the most out of the land without overworking it. There was a respect for nature and what it gave us," Cisco said. In adulthood, he moved to South Central Los Angeles. After working in a small local Makers shop, he began to creatively repurpose furniture that he found in flea markets. As he grew and opened his own shop, he had the freedom to create what has become known as the Cisco standard: handmade pieces of furniture using repurposed materials with little waste.
Four Promises
They opened their first furniture store over 30 years ago with the goal of creating safe, handcrafted bed frames, sofas, chairs, and more. Four promises are important to Cisco: Sustainability, Craftsmanship, Comfort, and Community.
Sustainability: Whether it’s repurposing discarded materials into durable pieces, donating our spaces to local nonprofits, or teaching employable skills to those in underserved neighborhoods, Cisco Home is at the forefront and redefining what sustainability is all about.
Craftsmanship: Cisco Brothers was a founding member of the Forestry Sustainability Council. They only use FSC Certified Wood and make sure all of their organic materials have the proper documentation, were fairly traded, or repurposed. Cisco Brothers only work with skilled Makers who sand, screw and stain each piece from start to finish. They value the integrity of people, not machines.
Comfort: Because of the care that goes into each piece, you can feel the difference. This is not furniture that is only for show – it is made to be comfortable and usable.
Community: Building the community is important to Cisco. That’s why they are constantly working with organizations to provide opportunities to those around us to nurture and build the next generation of like-minded craftspeople.
