Urban Woods Phillip Bed

The Phillip Bed by Urban Woods brings a modern, yet minimalistic look to your home.  Urban Woods constructs this from reclaimed wood with chunky 8" x 8" legs supporting a 12" high platform. Then, their artisans finish the bed and seal it with a zero-VOC, water-based finish to make it non-toxic and eco-friendly. Here the bed is shown in Rustic Raw finish. There are a number of finishes to choose from.

What is reclaimed wood?

Reclaimed wood is wood that is repurposed after being salvaged from the waste stream.  Urban Woods harvests their reclaimed woods locally from vintage buildings that are scheduled to be torn down. After harvest, they use this durable, old-growth timber to make beautiful, natural, and rustic furniture with a unique, one-of-a-kind look.

Benefits of reclaimed wood

Reclaimed wood is sustainable as it does not contribute to deforestation. In addition, this means trees aren’t transported.  There is an abundant supply of reclaimed wood that is already available. Finally, utilizing this vintage wood keeps it out of the landfill. Reclaimed wood is simply a smart and compassionate choice that helps preserve the environment.

Reclaimed wood has a distinctive look.  Many old buildings were made from old pine or Douglas fir, giving these pieces a rustic look.

Reclaimed wood is quite durable. The wood has often grown in an old-growth forest where trees grew steadily for centuries.  Therefore, the grain is more concentrated and growth rings are very close together.  Because of this, it is also termite-resistant due to the hardness and dense grain of the wood. These pieces are long-lasting when built properly.
